Surprise!!! Or, why I didn't eat much on Thanksgiving...

I'm expecting.

Bun in the oven.

The stork has a special delivery with my name on it.

However you want to say it, it's true!

Doctor said, with the BC I was on, there was a 1 in 1000 chance of conception. Highlight here for the TMI: (It was an IUD, for curious minds, so we also had to rush right in and get that taken care of or risk losing the pregnancy.)

I'm positively surprised, and very excited! The only thing I would change about the timing, if I could change anything, would be that I would have lost all the baby weight from Dynamite. I still had 15 lbs to go, so now I'm starting that battle a little behind. But, the experience will be well worth it.

My only concern is that I'm at a slightly increased risk of miscarriage until I reach the end of the first trimester - I'm 7 weeks along. I have absolutely no idea how I would handle that. I know three very strong, very admirable mothers who have miscarried and admitted to not being very upset - because they had faith that Heavenly Father knew what He was doing. I also know three very strong, very admirable mothers and women of faith who were - for a time - devastated by a miscarriage. I know women who talk about it candidly and others who treat it like a sorrowful secret. I feel compassion for both, I pray for all.

Motherhood is a sacred trust, a divine calling, and I strongly believe that angels often walk with mothers to lift their spirits, comfort their hearts, and guide their hands.

All that being said, I'm excited - so is my husband - and I can't wait to see how this pregnancy impacts our lives.
