My Kid IS Smarter Than Yours and I Can PROVE IT!

I feel like this all the time. I'm sure most parents do. But I especially feel like this when I see a child who is one year older than mine who is not able to carry on a conversation the way Lucy does. Oh, that child's parents think their little darling is VERY conversational because the three year old can repeat after them and say two word phrases like "eat time" and "love you."

But when I walk in the room where Lucy has been playing, she gives me paragraphs. "Mommy? I'm playing wit' bear and he is NOT NICE. He not say please and thank you." Then she abruptly shifts gears. "My hair is messy. We need to do my hair. I need comb and a-a-a-a-a spray bottle. We sit at mirror, right Mommy? And-and-and I need PONYtail." That reminds her.... "'Member when we went bye-bye to see the-the-the COWS? And horses! And I got to ride on the little horse. Just a little horse."

And she talks and talks and talks. She's also become inventive. The other day, her body made what is considered to be a rude noise. Her daddy said, "Lucy! What was that?" He was hoping she would say "Excuse me." Instead she said, "It was a duck. In my pants."

She just walked in my room saying: "Mommy, here are the colors. I've found all my crayons. Where is my notebook? I'm trying to draw wit' my crayons and I don't know where it is. It be somewhere..... Do you see it? I need the-the-the little - the small - notebook. Where is my notebook?" Verbatim. Typed while she was speaking.

Anyway. I've got to brag somewhere.

Love. This just makes me so excited for my turn.
The duck is classic, she'll thank you for that later for sure!
